Today

Today times are rough. Unemployment is almost as high as it was during the Depression in the early years of this great country. Everyone wants to know "what’s going to happen next?" Are we going to get back to the way things were?” The true answer is we do not know. We have no idea what is in store for us. And to be perfectly honest there is nothing we, as regular civilians, can do. The politicians who put this country in this crisis are responsible. Now we are looking for one man, President Obama, to save us all. The man is not God. I do not doubt he will try his best to save us but he can't change "water to wine" if you get my drift. Nevertheless we are having long sleepless nights because of the uncertainty of our future, the future of our friends, and family. So what can we do to cope with these times? What can we do to feel better about our situation either financially, emotionally, or physically? The best answer anyone can give without assuming things is: LIVE FOR TODAY AND FORGET ABOUT TOMORROW. We do not know what tomorrow will bring. But what we CAN bank on, is what we can do TODAY. I know this sounds cliché, and trust me I'm not trying to, but if you really step back and really think about it...What can you do about these harsh times?? If you can do something by all means please go right ahead, but if not...then what? John C Maxwell in his book The Difference Maker said, “There is a difference between problems and predicaments. A problem is something you can fix whereas a predicament is something that you have no control over.” Now with that said the things that are stressing you out today...what are they? Problems? Or Predicaments?

Today we celebrate,

Today there is no such thing as hate.

Today you kiss your mother like its your last kiss,

Today you hug your father like he was leaving but will be truly missed.

Today we sit back and think about the good times,

Today we see all green lights, NO STOP SIGNS.

Today is the day we congratulate those of us who won,

Today kiss and hold your son.

Today is a day free of pain,

Today is all sunshine no rain.

Today we toast to our accomplishments,

No matter past or present we sit back in astonishment.

Today is the day nothing will go wrong,

Today we drink to our favorite song.

Today we sit around the family,

What about you Ian? Today is about US not me!!

Today we establish that unbreakable bond,

Today we laugh and talk while the frogs jump peacefully across the pond.

Today we pour out liquor for those who God called up,

Today their ghost celebrates at the table once more with liquor in their cup.

Today drugs aren’t needed to get high,

Today all we got is this liquor, great food, and love to get us by.

Today we create our own joy,

Today a Flint gave birth to a healthy boy.

Today is a day of Glory,

Today starts the good part of our story.

Today we thank God for this moment,

Today I wrote my most peaceful sonnet.

Today we hold each other like it will last forever,

Today can never end, and I mean NEVER!!

Its all about today,

Well Ian what about tomorrow? Fuck it! Its to far away!!
