Pain is in my rearview,
Grief and despair are no long in my clear view.
I have been through the rough, rugged, and raw,
Man only if you knew what I saw.
I have been defeated, beaten, and trampled by pain,
Yet Im a warrior who refuses to be slain.
When I used to cry and fold,
Now I stand tall, head high, and no longer feel cold.
My strength has provided me warmth in the coldest winter,
I feel proud, joyous, no longer bitter.
That mountain...YES I have climbed, that river...YES I have swam,
Nothing can stop me now...I will be damn.
Loser, dead beat, crazy, and selfish is what I was,
Pain...well thats what it does.
Man, responsible, smart, warrior, fighter, and creative is what I am,
“Are you happy now?” I replied Yes Ma’am.
Now I stand before you a man of joy,
A man who was “just a little boy”.
I stand before you in honor of my family's name,
Courageously vowing never to be the same.
Before God takes my last breath and my life’s done,
I hope they looking down saying “Boy we are proud of you son”!
